I wanted a way to learn photogrammetry, or 3D scanning, and chose to do this using a pair of trainers we had just ordered. This way we could work with a cleaner pair, and the challenge was to get it finished so we could finally wear them.

I photographed the Nike SB Koston 3 trainer from all angles in a flat lighting set up.
I used Agisoft Photoscan to build a point cloud, base mesh and texture. I rebuilt the geometry and UV map in Cinema 4D. Brought the new geometry into Photoscan to re-project the texture onto the new UV. After cleaning up the texture we built this aniamtion.

This was a great way to learn photogrametry.
